Here’s your best friend if you’ll ever get a cold (like me in this very moment) or are feeling like getting sick. In wintertime, this will be the sun of your days, but I’d recommend to make an habit to drink some turmeric shots regularly as they are so incredibly healthy. In some recipe they filter the juice after blending, but I think that’s not a good idea, because in that way some important goods (such as the ginger fibers and black pepper powder) will be left out and we don’t want to discard those, do we?
Another great drink you can make out of those very same ingredients is turmeric milk, for which you’ll find the recipe in this post, along with useful information about turmeric properties and why it is vital to always pair it with black pepper. In this shots I also added freshly squeezed lemon juice, as it is a strong anti-inflammatory and has lots of vitamin C.
- 25 g of fresh turmeric
- 25 g of fresh ginger
- 25 g of raw honey
- ¼ tsp of cinnamon
- ¼ tsp of grind black pepper or 6 black pepper grains
- 5 cloves
- 4 tbsp (60 ml) of water
- 25 ml of lemon juice (approximately the juice of one lemon)
- Peel the turmeric and the ginger.
- Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend till smooth.
You can store the turmeric shots in a jar well closed in refrigerator for up to four days. Mix before serving.
