The other day it was announced that the PIÑAS Collection by Ina Koelln is going to be for sale in September and I couldn’t be happier about it.
Ina Koelln is a Portuguese fashion brand, or I better say, a slow fashion brand that exalts craftsmanship and handmade over mass production. Their aim is to keep their designs simple, but at the same giving them a special touch. Usually that touch is given by using sustainable materials, whether from tradition, like cork or from innovation, like Piñatex™.
During our #tkabroad, we had the privilege to bring along with us the prototype of the Ludwig backpack from the Piñas Vegan Edition. It was truly an honor to be chosen by this talented brand to run the first field test of this backpack.

The material of Ludwig is the innovative Piñatex™, made from pineapple leaf fibers. Quoting from the PIÑAS lookbook, “As pineapple leaves are a by-product of the pineapple harvest, no extra water, fertilizers or pesticides are used in the production. Piñatex ORIGINAL is a natural, strong, breathable and soft innovative material, responsibly sourced in the Philippines and finished in Spain.”

Ludwig backpack was with us everywhere throughout the month we traveled around Europe. We brought it to the beach, we had it under the rain, we squeezed it in train or airplane compartments. To be frank, we didn’t go soft with it, as we were to test its durability and it’s amazing how well it endured to all our mistreatments. It now still looks exactly as it was when I took it out from the packaging.
Besides from being made of an amazing material, looking great and being just cool under every aspects, Ludwig backpack is also so very practical for everyday life. It is very capacious, fitting even laptops (mine is 14’’ and was quite tight, but a 13’’ would fit perfectly), reflex cameras or documents, but still goes as a hand luggage for flights (and this was field tested when we suddenly had to fly from Madrid to Turin due to the French railway strike).

Ludwig has a practical outer zipper bag, to keep small objects well organized, and an outer zipper bag, to keep the essential stuff easily and quickly reachable.

So if you guys need a backpack for school or work, you want to stay classy but add a special touch to it, Ludwig backpack is the way to go. Very soon it will be announced when the PIÑAS collection will be available online, so stay tuned and follow Ina Koelln’s Facebook page for news!
